Investigators in Florida have filed fraud charges against a former claims surveyor at Progressive Insurance company, charging that she submitted false motor claims using claimants' names and kept about $24,000 in settlements.
From 2019 through 2022, Kiyuana R. Pasley, 41, worked at Progressive as an claims manager. Florida department of financial services reported on Friday that Progressive notified the "Division of Investigative and Forensic Services" in November of Pasley's alleged use of personal injury protection auto claims to make payments to herself. Following the revelation of the claims, she resigned and joined another insurance firm in Florida.
Investigative findings revealed that Pasley hijacked up to 11 active claims without the knowledge of the insured. Before transferring the claim cash from the 11 claims' bodily damage, deductible, and wage loss payouts to her personal bank accounts, she added incorrect information to the claims.
According to the department, Pasley had many bank accounts and used smartphone apps and direct deposit to deposit his illegally obtained money. She took use of the intimate information she had about the procedure before she resigned from Progressive.
Pasley was booked into jail in Miami, but was out of the facility by Friday morning, the inmate center indicated.
